The Cloud People has hired Helge Fjelberg from ServiceNow as its Chief Revenue Officer. Fjelberg will be responsible for all revenue-generating activities, including sales, marketing, and products.
“ServiceNow heads for 20% revenue growth this year. The challenge for the IT giant is access to ServiceNow expertise. Here, The Cloud People will play a key role as a ServiceNow partner. The goal for us is to grow at least as much as ServiceNow,” says Helge Fjelberg, The Cloud People's new Chief Revenue Officer (CRO).
Bjørn Jarl, CEO of The Cloud People, emphasizes: “Helge has unique competence, combining solid management experience, in-depth knowledge of ServiceNow, and a large network in the industry. By hiring him, we are well equipped to continue growing at the same pace as ServiceNow.”
More than 30 years of experience in the IT industry
Helge Fjelberg tells a story from when he entered the IT branch as a young trainee: “When I had to sign my first employment contract with Skrivervik Data, I was asked to think carefully: "If you sign here, you will never get out of the IT industry," was the message I received.”
That became true. Helge has worked in the IT industry since he started at Skrivervik Data over 30 years ago. Since then, he has worked at Hewlett-Packard, Dell EMC, and ServiceNow—for the past 18 years in management roles, most recently as Vice President of Nordics at ServiceNow. He is now employed as Chief Revenue Officer at The Cloud People and will start on the first of March 2025.
Fjelberg says: “The worst thing about leaving ServiceNow is leaving the company and the people, but by going to The Cloud People, I am still working closely with the ServiceNow ecosystem.”
Will make The Cloud People outstanding in selected areas
“Helge will be responsible for our revenue strategy. The Cloud People has spent five years since its establishment building a unique scalable platform for our ecosystem. Helge will unlock untapped potential and drive our growth further,” says Jarl.
“We have to make tough choices and focus on selected industries and ServiceNow solutions where The Cloud People will be the best. The ServiceNow platform is so large that it is impossible to be the best at everything,” adds Fjelberg.
He compares the ServiceNow platform to a pizza with a hundred slices.
“Most ServiceNow customers have invested in three to five slices of pizza. This means that we can create customer values for an additional 95 pieces. Most companies know the IT tools, but ServiceNow has equally good tools for making the workday more efficient across teams, excelling customer service, customer experience, and several industry-specific solutions—all enhanced with generative AI.”
Will build an excelling team
The Cloud People’s Chief Revenue Officer will oversee sales and marketing efforts, aligning various functions to optimize the revenue generation engine and ensure company objectives are met.
Unlike traditional revenue-focused roles, The Cloud People’s CRO extends beyond sales management to include marketing, customer service, pricing strategies, and revenue management. To effectively manage all revenue streams, the CRO needs a deep understanding of various revenue-related functions, such as customer satisfaction metrics, market trends analysis, and strategic partnerships.
Fjelberg adds: “It really inspires me to be part of building a team that delivers fantastic customer experiences and, through this, wins the trust of new customers. I am an operational person and want to create good customer experiences as often as I can. Both to understand what customers need and to help make The Cloud People successful. We will also focus on the close collaboration with ServiceNow and ensure we create value together.”
“I will also use my leadership experience to build a corporate culture that creates strong growth. It will be based on a learning culture where it is safe to make mistakes as long as we learn from them, and at the same time, we will hold each other accountable for what we are going to achieve. Then we will create a winning team that moves forward and reaches our goals and has fun on the journey,” concludes Fjelberg.
